“When I Die” by The Satisfactory (2025)
Dad’s Song of the Day #43, Oct. 11, 2025
Hey Angus, thanks for turning me on to your buddy Sal’s band, The Satisfactory…I gave them quite a long listen last night: my soundtrack to the Detroit/Seattle game (which went 15 innings, ended at 1:00 and will be in the discussion of the greatest games ever played!)
With no favour or bias to your friend, I have to say The Satisfactory makes exactly the kind of music I wish I could hear more of these days. Like, seriously, I could place this band with ease right in the middle of the 60s British Invasion or 90s Brit Pop eras.
Sal rocks that mop-top with style and puckishness. It’s like, here’s a hairstyle that I figure few people could pull off in 2025, and yet he carries it as cool as the Fonz would (you’ll have to look that one up).
I chose “When I Die” (just barely ahead of “Backseat Driver”)…it’s one of those songs you hear and think: “surely I’ve heard this song a million times before, haven’t I?” It’s just so familiar and catchy…fits me like an old pair of sandals.
Let me know when The Satisfactory come back to the Horseshoe (or elsewhere in Toronto)…my friends and I will be the old dudes off to the side, leaning on the wall, complaining about our knees.
